Blog Update for September 9th, 2016

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The new school year is in full bloom. Despite the warm temperature, the students are smiling and engaging in their new routines.  🙂

Kearney Outdoor Education Centre

The Grade 6 trip to Kearney is confirmed. The dates are October 24-26. This is a great time of year to enjoy the fall colours and smell the fresh crisp air. Information and forms will be coming home soon.

Quebec Trip (Grade 8)

We have tentative dates for a trip to Quebec City. They are February 7-10. The date for an evening information session will be announced soon.

Curriculum Night

Curriculum night will be on Thursday, September 22nd. Please join us and find out more about the grade specific curriculum that your child will be learning. The Courcelette Parent Council will provide a light meal which will be served between 5:00-630pm and the classroom visits will take place from 6:30 to 7:30pm. We look forward to seeing you!

Terry Fox Run

Our run in the community is scheduled for Thursday, September 29th (Rain date, September 30th).

Toronto Public Health

All grade 7 students and grade 8 girls will be receiving information packages regarding human papillomavirus immunization and meningococcal and hepatitis B vaccines. The first session is booked for Thursday, September 22nd. Please see the following information from Toronto Public Health.

Grade 8 OPEN HOUSES for secondary school specialized programs

To the parents of Grade 8 students, please find a schedule for open house sessions for specialized program offerings.  It’s hard to believe that preparations for transitioning our Grade 8 students to secondary schools has already begun. Please see the following link.

First Parent Council Meeting

Please join us at this year’s first Parent Council meeting: September 28th, 7:00-8:30pm. Child care is provided. We hare hoping for a full house.

Pop Tabs

Two of our students are collecting pop tabs for a wheelchair program. We ask that you send all your pop tabs in a plastic bag to the office. Many thanks in advance.
