Parent Symposium on Mindfulness and Well-being at Courcelette
Last night, Courcelette hosted a wonderful parent session on mindfulness and well-being. I wish to thank both Casey Batchelor and Kristina Kampe from the TDSB Psychology department for their informative presentations. I wish to extend a special thank you to Ms. Bowers who organized and led this great symposium. We thank all those who were able to join us.
Mr. Barbeau’s Grade 6/7 class will be leading this month’s Character Education Assembly which will take place on Wednesday, November 30th, 10:30-11:30am. The Character Education trait for November is Empathy.
December 3rd is Courcelette School’s Annual Santa’s Breakfast. Come join in the fun as grade 2 elves & their parents host a morning filled with great food, fun & a visit from Santa! For just a $4 donation – breakfast (which will include peanut-free options) includes: pancakes, sausages, fruit, hot chocolate, coffee, Tim bits & some other yummy treats. We have some great raffle prizes ($3 donation per ticket or 2 tickets for $5 donations). Come get your family photo with Santa ($2 donation per photo). We will be making ‘snowy owl’ ornaments & there will be lots of Christmas colouring sheets. Come enjoy our very own junior choir share a couple of choral numbers & there will be live jazz music.
We’d like to thank our generous community sponsors for the event: Garden Gate Restaurant, Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Jack of Sports, Rowe Farms, Canadian Tire, Loblaws, Origami Owl Custom Jewelry, Isabella’s Boutique Restaurant.
All proceeds of the event will be collected onsite & given to the Birchmount Bluffs Neighbourhood Centre (BBNC).
Can’t wait to see you there!

Caribou Math (volunteers)
As a school and a community we are very fortunate to have great volunteers in our immediate neighbourhood. One of those volunteers is Damion Ketchum who over the last couple of months has run the Caribou Math Test Pilot at the school with rave reviews from the kids involved. Damion’s goal is to make math fun and interesting for kids of all ages and is currently looking for a parent volunteer to co-lead a Math Club for grades 4-5-6. This will be an extension of the Caribou Math Test Pilot which is trying to help provide extension opportunity for students excited about math. All that is needed is a love of math and a time commitment. Please email our parent volunteer Damion Ketchum at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested.
