Beginning Monday, April 23rd, Courcelette will be celebrating Earth Week. Each day we will show our support with a little friendly competition and a few events. Don’t forget to bring a WASTE FREE LUNCH every day.
Earth Week Spirit Days – Each day, students will be asked to wear a specific colour to show their support for the Earth. The class who wears each colour the most will get to keep the Courcelette ECO Cup (made out of recycled materials) in their room for the day. Following is a list of Earth Week events and day specific colours:
Monday, April 23rd – Clean Water Day –BLUE!
Bring a reusable water bottle!
Create a New Life Contest Begins (see information below).
Tuesday, April 24th – Plant a Garden Day –MULTI-COLOURED Clothing!
Wednesday, April 25th – Clean Air Day – WHITE!
WALK TO SCHOOL WEDNESDAY! Please make every effort to have your child walk, bike or skateboard to school on this day. When we walk instead of drive, we help reduce air pollution. All Courcelette students will be encouraged to walk to school every Wednesday (and every day, when possible) for the rest of the school year.
Thursday, April 26th – Save a Tree Day – BROWN!
Students are encouraged to use our “Take a book, Leave a book” book exchange in the front foyer. By exchanging used books, fewer trees are cut down.
Friday, April 27th – Earth Day – GREEN!
SCHOOL YARD CLEAN UP! We will be going outside to clean up our schoolyard. Please send gardening gloves with your child so that we do not have to use plastic gloves. Please make sure gloves are labeled. If you have an extra pair, your child can share with a friend.
CREATE A NEW LIFE CONTEST!
Students are encouraged to repurpose or create a new life using old, recycled, or natural materials. For example, a student may make a pillow out of old worn out clothing or a robot out of recycled materials. We encourage everyone to be creative! Creations are due by Monday, April 30th and must be labeled with the student’s first and last name, grade, and teacher’s name. Contest Winners will be announced the first week of May.
