5 More Days Until the Holidays!!!
Thank you to the parents and students who assisted with the delivery of donations to the Birchmount Bluffs Neighbourhood Centre last week. We delivered over 700 units of toothpaste, multi pack toilet paper, boxed diapers and pull-ups. What an enormous feat of generosity and kindness! The staff at BBNC were very grateful for Courcelette PS’s contribution, thanking us for the great community spirit.
Wish the pic included everyone!!! Thank you to all of our parents, guardians, teachers, & students!
As well, the community has received a heartfelt thanks from The Children’s Book Bank and the Appt Family who delivered all of the donated books to their site. The bank staff were “amazed and grateful for the thousands of books donated by the Courcelette community”. In addition, Elizabeth Simcoe PS expressed a sincere thank you for the toys donated. Ms. Gillan and students (Izzy, Maya, & Jamie) drove the toys to ESPS and got to see first hand the amazing work their school does as well to assist the Scarborough community.
TDSB’s character trait for the month of December is Kindness & Caring. What a great opportunity for our entire school community to give back to the City of Toronto. As the WE Club reminded us, we can make a significant change in our city, assisting with the overall mandate of the Toronto Poverty Reduction Strategy. This was first and foremost in my mind as I toured ME to WE’s new Headquarters/Schools location in downtown Toronto Wednesday morning. How our school motto of, “think globally, act locally” is so timely and aligned with the TDSB’s Global Competencies.
Last week we also enjoyed our “Sounds of the Season” concert, filled with the precious performances of our students in K to 3 sharing their enthusiasm and love for the arts. I want to thank again all of the staff and students K – 8 involved, your hard work and dedication is well noted. The evening featured songs from many cultures and origins to celebrate the Winter Season. Thank you to everyone who attended, it was a lot of fun to see the students perform the skills they learn as result of weekly music programming delivered by their CPS teachers and the TDSB Music Department, including partner teachers Ms. Hunt, Mr. Gillard, and Ms. Ameri/Mr.Ungvary. We are very thankful to the co-teaching expertise they share with us. Our school also benefits from augmented funding from the School Council for music instructors and instruments.
Thank you to the volunteers at Pizza Lunch on December 14th! While it was rainy and indoors we made it 🙂 If you can help us during future lunches, we would greatly appreciate it. Also, if you or a community member you know would be interested in working as a lunchroom supervisor please contact Ms. Gillan at email@example.com for further details. Also if you have any DVDs you can donate to the school for lunch time movies that would be appreciated. Specifically looking for G-rated movies.
