Tomorrow is the day! We are very excited to see our Grade 8 students graduate. It was a fantastic clap-out at the end of school today. Students are absolutely welcome and encouraged to continue attending school this week but since we know some families have plans, we wanted to give them a great send-off today as one big community.
In addition to the previous letters sent home, here are some details for tomorrow…
Thank you to everyone who has RSVP’d. There aren’t tickets for the ceremony. The doors to the gym will be open by 6pm. We will endeavour to have a few fans on hand but likely the gym may be warm, please dress accordingly. Also, please allow seniors or those requiring accommodations a place to sit or locate first. There is wheelchair accessibility from the rear parking lot doors.
Please have your graduate here at the school for 5pm where they will be treated to a students and staff dinner together. Families may arrive for shortly before 6 pm. Graduates will be joining everyone at the front of the school/front hall for an opportunity to have photos and grab a glass of lemonade or water.
By 6:30 pm we’d like everyone in the gym so that we can begin the ceremony. Parents, Ms. Hepner will be giving you a large envelope with your child’s certificate and a souvenir group photo from their trip to Riverdale Farm. Students are handed “faux” diplomas on stage during the ceremony.
At practice today, we taught students how to pose for a photo upon receiving their diploma – so don’t forget your camera!
Following the ceremony all students have been extended an invitation to celebration being hosted by the students’ families at a local eatery. We wish you much fun as you celebrate this milestone together.
Thank you to everyone, in particular the volunteers who have offered to help set-up and decorate tomorrow. We could still use some helping hands, if you would like to assist, please contact Ms. Hepner tomorrow for times & details.
See you at graduation,
Ms. Gillan & Staff
