Thank you to our School Council for providing pizza at last week’s Welcome Back to School Night and for the great organization at our first Pizza Lunch. Awesome team!
It was my pleasure to see so many students and their families at Wednesday evening’s Welcome Back to School event. The staff did an amazing job welcoming everyone and preparing materials for you. I enjoyed presenting about our school rules & routines, as well as announcing our school’s “Buddy Program: BFFs – Big Friends Forever!” We look forward to a fun and educational year of mentoring through the HOUSE system (big reveal coming up!), literacy, numeracy, robotics, wellness, athletics, and much more. The Buddies Program is our students’ favourite part of school as evidenced by student survey results last June. This focus will allow us to build on the Caring, Safe, and Accepting foundation we have built at Courcelette PS.
Monday, September 30th: Orange Shirt Day. Thank you to the students of Room 8 and Portable 4 for their impactful announcement series. Students have been learning about the Residential School system and the meaning behind Orange Shirt Day in their classes.
There will be a crew from the Ontario Teacher’s magazine “Professionally Speaking” filming at the school Monday & Tuesday. Only students in Grade 8 whose families have signed a media release will appear in the story. Professionally Speaking’s December issue will feature an article on Ms. Lynn Wilkins our Grade 7/8 teacher who received the Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence last spring.
Tuesday, October 1 – 3: Universal Screening (CCAT-7) Testing for Grade 3s. AM only in Portable 2. Students from Room 5 will join Portable 2 for the screening and will be supported by teaching and educational assistant staff members.
Our Grade 1/2 classes are going to the Aquarium October 2nd.
